We’ve been in Michigan all week making the final preparations for this Saturdays planting. Earlier in the week my dad brought out his lawnmower and mowed the vineyard area, a parking area and a place for the party around our little pole barn.
While he was doing all the mowing I set most of the remaining end posts. While we technically don’t need the trellis finished at this point, having the end post set allow us hopefully have straighter planted rows.
Also today all of the metal line posts were delivered. 112 posts are pretty heavy and its good we had my dads truck to move them all from the road down to the vineyard spot. I am looking forward to having some help on Saturday pounding those in. That is not a task that we were looking to do by ourselves.
Now we only need to rototill the rows, mark and auger the holes and we will be ready to plant.
Tomorrow the vines are scheduled to arrive. We have our fingers crossed as I haven’t received any tracking numbers for the shipment yet. That would be awfully disappointing if our vines are late and we have all of these people coming over to plant them.
